Corona is an ion and electron discharge set up in
gases through which an electric field is impressed. All insulated wires have
minute voids at the interface of the wire and the insulation. Under the
stress of high voltage gradients, ions are formed in these cavities and
accelerated by the field. These Ions bombard the wall of the cavity,
breaking down the insulation and enlarging the voids. This process continues
until the insulation is penetrated, causing failure
GEEKORE HVCR cable provides extremely higher breakdown voltage and
operation voltage with very miniature size and weight. In additional measure
of reliability, Corona Resistant PTFE High Voltage cables can be used from
cryogenic temperatures through a high temperature of 250 deg. C for short
periods of time.

Testing on 100% length
- Spark Test : At DC working voltage for 1 second
- Dielectric Test : At ( AC working voltage + 10% + 1) KV for 5 minute
Testing on samples
- Break down voltage test : Rise voltage at the rate approx. 10
KV/Sec. till sample breaks down.
- Progressive stress test : In this test two samples of 1m each are
taken from both ends of cable.
- Test starts at 1 KV. Step rise 2KV per minute. Voltage progressively
increased till sample breaks down.
