Thermocouple is used as temperature sensor and is
connected to the pyrometers for indication and control and works on the
principle to convert thermal potential difference into electrical potential
difference. The thermocouple and pyrometers are electrically connected by
thermocouple extension/compensating cables and are required to have similar
thermoelectric (emf) properties as that of the thermocouple used for sensing
the temperature.
